Mission

To provide student midwives with a sound community based midwifery knowledge that is aimed at developing the cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills of the student midwife. This is to enhance quality client care, as well as providing the midwife opportunity for self and professional development, particularly in midwifery research, education and computer literacy, ensuring respect for societal and cultural values.

Vision

A health training institution that will train professionally disciplined and highly motivated midwives for a healthy and productive population in Jigawa State.

Philosophy

We believe pregnancy and child birth are two fundamental and natural processes in life. The role of the midwife is therefore to guide and develop the original parenting instincts in a professional manner. Life is sacred, so we promote productive responsibility through education. Basic midwifery education takes cognizance of the prevailing socio cultural and economic conditions of a contemporary society and the gender issue that challenges reproductive health services in the society at all levels. This will enable the midwife to develop the skills in midwifery practice and encourages her to continuously improve such practices by keeping abreast with current trends and concepts in the practice. This is apart from attending other continuing educational programmes.
